Run. Socialize. Connect. Repeat.
Purpose
Our purpose is to build a running community through inspiration, positivity, and encouragement.
About the Katy Area Running Club
The Katy Area Running Club is the only 501(c)(3) non-profit running club in Katy. KARC exists to serve people living in and around Katy, Texas who have an interest in running. We are a community of people of all ages, backgrounds, heritages and abilities who share a common interest – running ! Our focus is on group runs, having fun, socializing, and sharing our knowledge and experience with our members and the public.
We welcome all runners and walkers who are interested in joining us! You can join any number of weekly running sessions.
We run all year and have training programs targeting the January marathon and half marathon in Houston (Chevron and Aramco races) A majority of the members run these races, but there are always members training for local 5k's, 10k's, half marathons or destination races like Boston, Berlin, New York, London, Sydney, Disney..., so you will always be able to find a training buddy to share the long runs with.
I addition to training we hold information and social events on running topics, e.g. nutrition, pacing, stretching, race fueling, so that runners, both new and experienced ones, can learn a thing or two for their current training cycle and the next race.
Training is done in the Katy, Cinco Ranch area and takes place on most days of the week. As members often mix running with a work schedule, most sessions are either early morning or early evening. Individual pace groups can arrange variations over the typical schedule below.

REASONS TO RUN WITH US!
Accountability
When you’re flying solo, it’s easy to justify skipping a workout. Accountability to another person is a big factor in adhering to a training plan.
You’ll go faster
No one wants to be the weakest link in a group setting. This is the Kohler Effect, it makes us to push beyond the limits we might set on ourselves when training alone.
Peer pressure can be a good thing
Research shows that the actions of others rub off on us, surround yourself with runners, and you’ll soon find enablers of the best kind
You’ll also go farther
Working out with others has been found to increase the amount of time a person spends exercising, doubling the training time of those who exercised alone.
There will be Socials
Few understand what it means to be “rungry” after a workout. Our pace groups do more than just run— they also sometimes grab breakfast after a Saturday morning run.
You’ll get the inside scoop
Whether it’s advice on how to train for your first full marathon or a clever hack for preventing blisters during an ultra, you’ll be amazed at how much you can learn from your fellow runners.
Everything gets better
Those exercising in a group show significant improvements in physical fitness, mental well-being, and emotional stability, as well as a marked reduction in stress levels.
